What customers say?

“ Had a great dinner here with new friends after watching a sumo tournament. A perfect compliment to those events. It's a sit on the floor kind of place, so if you have American knees, be advised. ”

“ Excellent chanko nabe! It helps if you know Japanese when interacting with the staff, but they do have an English menu to help with ordering and understanding how it all works. Prices are per person, but the hotpot is for a minimum of 2 people, so bring a party of like-minded people who can share one pot. Hot, filling, and flavorful in an awesome sumo atmosphere! ”

- Kevin Little -

“ We visited Chanko Dojo to try Rikishi Chanko Nabe. It did not disappoint. The man and woman running the restaurant were very kind to us as I did my best to speak Japanese (I’m not fluent and still learning). The Chanko nabe was incredible! We enjoyed the entire experience. ”

- Lisa Pond -

“ The soup base was delicious and it's generally delicious. Big portions that can feed sumo wrestlers or hungry travelers. We finished all the food but weren't able to add any rice or noodles in the end because we are so full. The price is a bit higher than expected. ”

- Xin Chen -

“ This themed gem is close to the Sumo Arena and the Edo-Tokyo Museum. However, it doesn't look like a "themed" bar, and I don't think that's the best classification. "Restaurant that pays homage to sumo" would be a more appropriate classification. The food is good and plentiful. However, there is limited selection of non-alcoholic drinks. ”

- Felippe Cordeiro -

“ Our last dinner in Japan was the traditional sumo-wrestler meal. We booked this place because it stays open longer. It has an izakaya vibe. The meal came very quickly and Jun-san the very friendly staff guided us in the process of preparing and eating and also made a rice egg porridge at the end of the meal, we talked about sumo and Jun-san told us the wrestlers that frequent that dojo, it was such a cool interaction. We had very good sake too. Looking forward to come back during sumo season. ”

“ Very traditional. Nice service. They speak English. There’s no walk-in, you will need a reservation to eat there ”
